  •  No. It isn't nice. (12+ / 0-)

That's just the way it is.  I can't understand why this is so popular;  I suppose I don't get pop culture?

watched it. One time. You can see right through the "aw shucks" crap about 5 minutes in. Hell, I found "Finding Bigfoot" much more realistic and entertaining....

    •  Cheap rules cable. (0+ / 0-)

Why did A&E cave in? Because the show is cheap to produce and pulled in eyeballs.

I remember when A&E spent real money on some of their productions, and were well rewarded for the investment.
Their movie about the Lost Battalion of WWI was as good a war movie as it gets, and it made a lot of money for A&E.

These days, risk aversion is pulling all our entertainment down. Cable networks are the worst in this, I believe, and there are far too many of them. If risk aversion continues to rule cable, it's only a matter of time before Netflix or the alternatives will become the alpha dogs.

I think A&E should not only have dropped DD like a rock, they should have been prepared to replace the series with something vastly better.

Right many are called, and damn few are chosen.
