I would also suggest that we, as a society, and as a world, need to start thinking seriously about decreasing the population, not only because it will decrease the power employers have over prospective and existing employees, but it will also decrease all the global problems we now face involving climate change, availability of food and water resources, immigration, and all the other problems that are coming home to roost.

I believe that over-population has either created or exacerbated every problem the world is now facing.  And yet, I did not hear one politician in any of the races I was watching even mention over-population as a major problem we needed to deal with.

Is it more rational to keep the population of a herd under control so that it can live within the resources available, or do we just let it continue to grow exponentially, and deal with the craziness that will eventually come to pass?

I doubt if most of the super-rich care.  After all, to those who are already living in gated communities with armed guards, with full access to whatever resources they desire, what's a few million lives lost here or there?

"We have been God-like in our planned breeding of our domesticated plants and animals, but we have been rabbit-like in our unplanned breeding of ourselves." Arnold Toynbee / British historian
