    happened back in September.  :D

But we did our habitual New Year's Eve party with friends, at which we have a personal tradition of toasting in the new year -- everybody gets to offer their own toast.  Our circle of friends has been doing this for some time now, so a few of us have regular standbys.

Mine this year was "To evil: may it flourish and thrive so splendidly in fiction that it soon decides to abandon the real world altogether."

OMG at your menu and recipes.

      Raspberry Bars - must have!

      Very classy toasting ritual.

Your toast is wonderful. I love it and hope it comes true.

Happy New Year to you Batya!

I kind of like celebrating two different New Year days, to be honest -- one religious and one secular.

Some of the other standby toasts we had this year:

"May you lie, cheat, and steal: lie to save a friend, cheat death, and steal someone's heart."

"May God stand between you and harm in all the dark places you must walk."

"Hold fast to the spirit of youth, let years to come do what they may."  (That one dates back to our college days; it's the traditional toast of the Philolexian Society.)

And an old favorite: "To the Batmobile, Robin!"
