are still bitter over the way they parted ways with their former employer. In the end the policies they supported were harmful to elk and the vast majority of members just didn't see things the way they did anymore.

Both of these guys have too much bitterness and it's time to move on, certainly posting what are untrue editorials to HCN and the Missoulian do nothing to endear them to people they used to think of as friends.

The fib about funding wildlife services especially. For the past couple years all donations via the RMEF to the three affected state divisions of wildlife have been specifically directed to scientific research only, so that there is no mistake and no one can make these sorts of acusations again.

I know that in Wyoming the RMEF is the single largest contributor to wolf conservation that the WY Division of Wildlife has. My money goes to radio collars, counting, and population monitoring.

I saw several sources that mentioned supporting Wildlife Services.  Please don't accuse me of lying without supplying sources.

the links in Scott's post. Are you saying that Stalling misquoted the press release from RMEF? This one:
"Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF), National Rifle Association (NRA), Safari Club International (SCI), Boone and Crockett Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), Wild Sheep Foundation, American Sheep Industry Association, Public Lands Council, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and Pope and Young Club"

Or are you saying that Rob Chaney and Donald Murie were bought and paid for by Bob Ferris? Both of the links say what they say. If you would dispute them, please provide more than your vision of their motives.

There is more to this than meets the eye, and perspective is a good thing.

that the diarist didn't address this obvious thing in the diary. Your post here has only been up a few minutes, I realize--but here, specifics are offered.

Thank you for making it very easy for him/her to respond, I certainly hope they do so with something besides pol-speak...

        •  Ban Nock has a long posting history supporting (4+ / 0-)

views contrary to those most of us who support wolves have.  I've had numerous comment disagreements with him over the years, but he's been consistent in statements indicating wolves aren't in jeopardy.  I happen to disagree and I support increasing wolf ranges and protecting them from hunting at this time.  His side is winning in many states of the northern Rockies.

That said, I have no problems with this action by RMEF and I support these kinds of actions no matter what group does them.

is hard to determine, if you don't read him much. And if it could possibly be taken as sophistry or sins of omission are so easily noted, the writing is disingenuous at best.

to picture him working with the USFS. The RMEF is an organization with lots of ranchers, loggers, and hunters. These are people with an extraction mentality and they don't like sharing elk, deer, sheep, or prongs with wolves. And they will take an elk from the wild but won't let a wolf take a calf from a ranch. They do some good things though. I have worked with them and the High Desert Riders to promote lite on the land horse camping techniques in Oregon wilderness areas. So at least some the their members are less impactive on wilderness when they on go their hunts.
