the Little Sisters of the Poor, but that's not the point. If the Catholic health care organizations weren't getting government funding, a much higher percentage of health care in this country would be being provided by completely secular entities.  And I personally don't see a problem with that.

If I have a heart attack tomorrow and call 911, I'll be taken to the nearest hospital, which happens to be a "Catholic" hospital, even though most of its patients and employees are non-Catholic. Believe me, the reason I'll be going there isn't that it's a Catholic hospital -- it's that it's where the ambulance (paid for with my tax money) will take me, and where Medicare (also paid for with my tax money) will pay most of the bills. I see no reason why they shouldn't be subject to the same laws as all other hospitals.

And FWIW, my wife knows that if I get taken there and am unable to communicate, I want to be transferred as soon as possible to a non-Catholic hospital, given the fact that Catholic hospitals not only feel free to disregard parts of the Affordable Care Act, but also to disregard a patient's advance directives to the extent that those directives conflict with Catholic standards (such as insisting that patients get artificial hydration and nutrition, even though the patient has an advance directive saying they wouldn't want them).

Bin Laden is dead. GM and Chrysler are alive.
