  •  I still think that's the wrong way to do it. (0+ / 0-)

These groups are asking for the right to force their religion on their employees and discriminate against them. That request should be laughed out of court, with the simple response that the law stands, all are equal.

You want the case taken so that their request is denied. But there is a good chance that they are granted that right in a 5-4 decision. And then what?

I'd much rather wait. Let some state pass a conscience law. Then let someone harmed with standing bring suit.

Then SCOTUS would be deciding on the right of an individual to have freedom, rather than the right of a corporation's freedom.

Sotomayor shouldn't even give an ounce of respect to those anti-science nuts who claim birth control pills are murder.

    •  That would be the expensive way, wouldn't it? (0+ / 0-)

The reason for the stay, after all, is so that these companies don't have to change insurance policies until the law is settled.

In the rotting world of commercial health insurance, changing policies means pushing a lot of paper, and costs person-hours for the insured as well as the insurer.

BTW, I believe that Sotomayor's respect for one side or the other should not play into her decision.
