from the text of the article.

In this study, we provide the first clear and simply measurable evidence for influence of geomagnetic field variations on mammal behavior.

It's been known for awhile that cattle align with the artificial magnetic fields...

Begall, S., Červený, J., Neef, J., Vojtěch, O., & Burda, H. (2008). Magnetic alignment in grazing and resting cattle and deer. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 105(36), 13451-13455.

It sorta makes sense for large migratory mammals to orient magnetically... it can direct migration. Dogs, though? Not so easy to explain.

My budget-cutting plan: anyone showing up to a government worksite with Confederate images on their truck, gets paid in Confederate dollars.

        along with wolves.

Dogs are after closely related to Wolves.

Wolves follow their prey and if their prey migrates then the wolves need to track them. So I'm not surprised that domestic dogs still have the ability to do the same thing.
