  •  No - the real question right now is how many (13+ / 0-)

people are trying to pay and can't!

I mailed a check to BlueShield CA on 12/14. It has STILL not been cashed. So I scrambled and set up an EFT payment for 1/1. As of this morning - their website is blowing up and I have no proof that the payment was made. Nothing on scheduled payments page (I guess that is good) but nothing showing on the payment history page (that is bad!) So off to the bank tomorrow to check. I will try the website again tonight but until I get a membership number the only thing I can do is check on the binder payment.

One of the guys in the park went with Kaiser - he actually enrolled about a week before me and he STILL does not have the bill from the insurer.

I have called probably 5 times since the 18th about the check. Each time I have been on hold for 30-45 minutes.

This is the next big thing IMHO. The insurers are swamped, falling behind on the enrollments. They have had 3 years to get ready too.

I have to get blood tests before my appt. on 1/10. Not sure what I'm going to do.

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.

It should count as paid even if they haven't cashed your check--as long as they have record of receiving it. They should have reconciled your account automatically, assuming you paid exactly the amount owed. The CA blues have horrible customer service though.

Blue Shield of CA is responsible for the passing of the ACA, however--when the bill looked ready to fail, good old Blue Shield of CA said, "I've got a great idea to celebrate. Let's raise our premiums fifty percent!"

That managed to wake up even the most slumbering of Dems. "Wow. I just realized. We have the house; we have the Senate; we have a Democratic president. Maybe we could do something?"

And God said, "Let there be light"; and with a Big Bang, there was light. And God said "Ow! Ow My eyes!" and in a flash God separated light from darkness. "Whew! Now that's better. Now where was I. Oh yea . . ."

    •  You suggest the insurance companies knew (0+ / 0-)

three years ago that a payment mechanism via healthcare.gov would be nonexistent at launch and that manual 834 data verification would be required for thousands of erroneous/mistransmitted data lines. Do you know anything to substantiate that?

info from coveredCA. I requested an address to send my first payment to. Mailed on 12/14. Received the bill from BSCA around 12/18. So there was no f'up on coveredCA side. All the delay has been on the BSCA side.

Update! Spent 40 minutes on the phone tonight. They said the eft would be processed tonight. Didn't bother even asking about the check. It'll turn up eventually and get cashed I'm sure. I just checked and the EFT did go through. Yay!

I will probably NOT get my insurance cards prior to getting my blood tests - going to the dr. BSCA says to pay for the labs and submit a claim. Like I'm made out of money. I am hoping that enough processing will take place so that I can get some screen grabs to prove I have insurance.
