    points that certainly address this novel as well. While reading the book, I wanted to know what happens but I also have been thinking a lot about the other parts, the parts that the author concentrated on instead.

      of Cortazar's Hopscotch, at least the hopscotch version (that sentence makes sense in the context of the book, I promise!)  At times the story seems to be headed nowhere, interspersed with what appear to be irrelevant discussions about the nature of literature, of plot, of character, and finally: an audacious ending that leaves a lot up to the individual reader.

      It's one of my top ten books, so your description of The Infatuations has me intrigued.
