  •  Walker will nail her on her family corporation (5+ / 0-)

sending jobs to China.  I believe she is his preferred opponent; he will paint her as out of touch and play the geographic (Madison liberal) and class cards.

Before I can support Ms. Burke, I need to see what Kathleen Vinehout's decision is concerning the Govenor's race.  She can "out-paper-bag" Walker and has the potential to pull small town, rural, and Northern votes from Walker's column; I am not convinced that Ms. Burke can do that.

Walker is a cunning demagogue; I suspect he will "win" any debate with Ms. Burke in the eyes of poorly informed WI voters.  Since WI corporate-owned media protects and promotes Walker, there are too many poorly informed Walker voters who unknowingly vote against their own best interests.

    •  Vinehout will get destroyed. (0+ / 0-)

      •  ...and Burke will not? Have you listened to (2+ / 0-)

        Burke's interviews?

      •  What makes you say that? (4+ / 0-)

I hear this from insider types, but they never give a reason why. I'm sure a lot of the same groups said this about another State Senator running for a higher office against a scummy GOP incumbent, and was challenging establishment Dems.

But I think that Feingold guy worked out in 1992. Why was that?

By comparison, ranton's point is spot-on. Burke hasn't done nearly enough to differentiate herself from Walker in the mind of the casual voter, and that has to be done by whoever is the Dem candidate (no more milquetoast, "Republican lite"). Which is why a primary would be great to see if she has the stuff.

        •  For a Democratic challenger to win against Walker, (0+ / 0-)

the candidate must persuade previous Walker supporters to vote against him. I  can smell the political winds of opportunity teasing about; there is much disatisfaction to be mined.  However,, the Democratic  Party candidate must be able to connect with voters outside the Milwaukee/Madison corridor.  Burke has not shown me that she  can connect and inspire the type of voter who will swing the election against Walker, and Vinehout has not shown that she can inspire urban, Milwaukee/Madison corridor voters.

I hope Vinehout runs; I want to see both their mettle tested before one faces the Corporatist-funded onslaught  from Walker.

          •  Democrats don't win by swinging independents -- (1+ / 0-)

ie., previous Walker supporters. Democrats win by giving democratic voters something/someone dramatic to get out and vote for.
