    My heart is with Scottish independence. However, I don't think it will pass. But, never underestimate the charismatic Alex Salmond and his ability to convince people an independent Scotland is the right thing to do.

    As for Lib Dems, they are screwed. Clegg traded near term quasi-power for long term extinction. Lib Dem will never regain Scotland. If Scotland stays part of the UK, they'll vote Labor before they vote Lib Dem.

      local decisions being made locally, and Scotland has extensive powers of self-determination ... as they should.

      I don't detect any real appetite for splitting up the Union, and while I have much respect for Alex Salmond, I don't trust him on this issue.

      I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
      but I fear we will remain Democrats.
