    ....who identify as Republican is, at most, 6%--that number is from a Pew poll in 2009, I suspect the number of scientists who identify as Republican is probably continuing to decline. I wonder if it is statistically possible for it to reach zero?

        The contrarians! Forever 16......how well I remember, even though I do try to repress it.

        My husband did 20 years in the Navy, and told me one thing he had discovered there was that no matter how hard you try there is always someone (or several someones) who never gets the word. I suspect there are a few scientists who just haven't gotten the word that Republicans are the party of stupid (hey, one of their own leaders has acknowledged this fact, and he isn't all that enormously bright himself, so I don't think I'm being prejudiced to point this out as a fact).
