"There's no such thing as bad weather - only bad clothing."

So since I have the right boots, mittens, hat and various other layers, I'm fine being outside in below zero weather.  And even though I'm now living in balmy Chicago (no pun intended), I'm feeling nostalgic listening to that distinct squeaky, styrofoam-like crunch under my boots as I walk to the local store.

To me, a surprising number of Chicagoans never embrace the Winter and all the great things you can do outside.  Just before the cold temps hit we had some beautiful snow for sledding and snowboarding.  Even yesterday with temps around zero, my daughter and I had a great time using that snow to build her snow fort higher.

My spouse comes from subtropical India, so we've got friends and family calling from Mississippi, DC and India to find out if we're OK.  That makes me chuckle but it's understandable since many of them have never seen snow.  I'll be sending them some pics to show how much fun we're having.

I made my own big batch of chili on Monday.  We had it  again tonight and there are at least two more dinners there.  We like it with some kind of nice bread like cornbread or chopblock bread.

No flu yet and we always get immunized for ourselves but also to reduce spreading it to others.

Sadly we have rain and many above freezing days in the two week forecast.  I worry about how well the snow fort is going to hold up.

Panty hose included. I like to wear a pair over my thermals.

A snow fort, how wonderful! Hoping to be better soon and hit the slopes. I love the outdoors and snow.

You made me google chopblock bread. Sounds easy and delicious.

      Love cornbread.
