a wonderful contemporary example of what our several states have been suffering under ever since the Civil War when, after the demise of Confederate currency, the U.S. went to a single currency controlled by Washington. Prior to the Civil War, some states had issued their own currency. Presumably, our commitment to national unity wrote finis to that.
Why the countries of Europe handed their sovereign currencies over to the banksters is a puzzlement. Yes, the money changing was probably a nuisance, but a euro resticted by German bankers is not an improvement.
It seems of particular interest that Switzerland has not joined the euro zone and is considering simply issuing a fixed stipend to every individual to insure the currency keeps moving.
