I live in Toronto.  After seeing all the things around Mayor Ford and the fact that his supporters STILL support him, I've come to the realization that people will rationalize pretty much anything if it fits their preconceived preference.

    •  Maybe- but is Ford considering a PM run? (2+ / 0-)

Christie has presidential aspirations and this most likely will sink them

    •  Ford did it to himself. Christie did it to his (4+ / 0-)

constituents.  There is the difference.  Everyone forgives a personal failure.  But when it's planned and affects so many people?  Nah.

Listening to the NRA on school safety is like listening to the tobacco companies on cigarette safety. (h/t nightsweat)

      •  The offenses are of a very different scale though (0+ / 0-)

One can be rationalized as political hardball.

The other one was literally smoking crack (and two dozen other things, like drunk driving).

But like most controversies, the big problem will not be the act itself, but the lies about it.  And Rob Ford lied his ass off over and over, and his supporters are still supporting him after making them all look like fools.
