...and the seeming indifference by the site officials, and outright support of allowing them to continue by some at this site has got me a bit pissed and touchy.  The flu doesn't help either.

I am just getting sick and fucking tired of all the people reinforcing the wrong idea the fat is anything more than a personal health issue.  With the asshole Christie going down in flames all the people conflating his BS with his being fat makes me want to break things.

    •  I would agree (17+ / 0-)

with you in general, but I think repeating what the Romney campaign called him is important to the story.  It says more about the pettiness of Romney than anything.  I hope you feel better.

    •  I agree with you in general, too (1+ / 0-)

John McCain and Mitt Romney certainly went from acceptable moderate Republicans to evil neocon soulless asswipes. All it took was winning the GOP nomination.

There has never been a kind word for them like "They are trapped in a new GOP they are not really a part of." There have been kind words written about both of them in comments and in posts on this site, usually comparing them with the firebreathers like Inhofe and Jesse Helms and the like.

I'm glad we can say that sites like Kos uncovered the dirt on both of these guys, but it's more than the tone that bothers me--it's the speed with which someone is condemned now and for all time. That's not me. That's not my personal one-on-one style with human beings. Everyone gets a chance for either redemption or to explain their past, at the very least.

Yeah. It bothers me. Not enough to keep me awake, but DEFINITELY enough to keep me the goddamned fucking CONTRARIAN that I am. And believe me, Kossacks, you need a contrarian just as badly as the GOP does. It's just plain good to see more than one panel painted black, standing in for the entire accurate picture of ANYTHING.

I can't imagine how hard it would be to have to lose a hundred, or more. I'm 5'7" and 160 lbs...but I have nothing BUT empathy for any and all overweight persons, because almost no American is happy with their weight--thanks to crap 'jokes' like these about Christie.

Empathy. It's what separates me from asshole conservatives. Making fun of Christie's weight reminds me of what an asshole conservative would do.

So, Kos Front Pagers: STOP IT. Or don't. Like you would do so at the behest of a COMMENTER...as IF.

      •  You have my sincere sympathy (0+ / 0-)

Losing weight is incredibly hard. It may be one of the hardest things you can aspire to do. I had a dear friend who died from diabetes. He struggled with weight and depression his whole life. The only time he really started to lose weight significantly is when he went on the Atkins diet. That's basically a no-carb diet. On the plus side, you eat all the meat you want. His cholesterol went down, amazingly enough. But it turns out that fat doesn't make you fat; carbs do and they are made extremely cheap and abundant in our society. So once you switch to high protein and near-zero carb, simple biochemistry causes you to lose weight. Not every one can handle a diet like that though. Vegetarians, for example.

Voting is the means by which the public is distracted from the realities of power and its exercise.
