      •  No, it's not. (2+ / 0-)

Honestly, most of us are grown up enough that we don't have to make fun of the obese, or the crippled, or with other significant health issues. We have actual points to make.

If your big problem with Christie is his weight, I'm not even sure why you're here.

        •  yes it is (1+ / 1-)

and if you stopped serving as today's fat joke police you could see all my other comments re Christie.
My "big" problem with Christie(haha) isn't his weight, but I have no problem mocking a rich, powerful, abusive and corrupt politician for his weight.
And comparing him to the handicapped?  Pathetic.  Find one instance where I ever mocked the handicapped or STFU.

I'm gonna go with the above comment for $200, Alex.

            and that HR is abusive.

I'm not sure where we should draw the line at fat jokes. Some are pretty offensive. But Chris Christie - an unprincipled bully himself - presents a large and obvious target. Which is why pretty much every late night talk show host has joked about his girth, and hundreds of journalists have been doing the same.

Mildly mocking fat jokes are not all HRable. Really nasty ones, or those wishing pain on Christie, probably are.

There are no fat jokes in your comment & zero justification for HRing someone, as delver rootnose just did, when they're discussing boundaries of acceptable discourse on Daily Kos, and you just don't like their opinion.

            •  So no fat joke.... (0+ / 0-)

              .. Then why the "(HaHa)"

So by your standard I can now make mildly mocking black jokes about the president or mildly mocking jokes about women, just like rush does.

And personally attacking me is HRable in and of itself.

And more to the point I HR the comment because it conflates fat with Christies negative attributes sort of like if I conflated EW Jackson's idiocy with his blackness.  For example how do you think this community would reach if I said I could now make insults about EW being very dark because we all know the darker you are the stupider you get.  And then try to cover myself with the "hey it was only a harmless joke" fig leaf

That you see fat jokes as harmless just shows YOUR bigotry and calling me a prig for not accepting it is just your attempt to continue to be a biggot unchallenged.

Additionally just because this bigotry is pervasive in society doesn't make it ok.  How few years ago was it ok for TV people to make n word jokes or refer to gay by the f word or make jokes about a woman president wanting to push the big red button every 30 days etc. etc.

That so many people here of all places feel it is just hunky dory to poke the fat man makes me think people haven't advanced since the days we threw shit at each other in the trees.

Report me to the moderators.  I have already sent multiple messages to them about this with no response.  I can only assume daily Kos's now supports 'jokes' about body color shape size sex age etc.

          •  red rabbit, I just reported delver rootnose to the (0+ / 0-)

admins for his abusive HR of your comment.

Could you please, in fairness, lighten up a little on the fat jokes? You've made several in this diary - but I didn't see any that contributed anything useful or entertaining to the discussion.

          •  no, in fact there were useful things you added to (0+ / 0-)

the discussion (e.g. the Nixon comparison) - but your fat jokes were unfunny and uncalled for.
