  •  We forget one major point. He is GOP. (5+ / 0-)

Vitter would have been castrated if he wasn't GOP. That coke head congresscritter would have done jail time and would have been hounded out of office if he wasn't GOP.

I suspect that Christie will only be strengthened by this kerfuffle just because he is GOP and because the victims were democrats.

    •  His victims included republican voters since (4+ / 0-)

Driving to work or wherever is non-partisan. It's his fault because his inner circle did this. He has poor insight or this is how he rolls.

To me he's an even more evil version of Bush. The Rs have gotten more evil with time. Evil won in NJ; I want us to stop it in 2016.

But their capacity for double standards is astounding.

      •  Peculiarities of Ft. Lee Entrance (1+ / 0-)

I understood the Port Authority's "study" to involve primarily the entrances to the GWB from Ft. Lee proper and US46 local traffic and not the main I-95 approaches to the bridge.  The GBW has a little jug-handle like entrance that loops in from the local streets which lie just along the escarpment facing the river, which most people except locals and commuters know about.  That's why Christie's people keep talking about it affecting mostly Democratic voters and not their kind of people.

All of which demonstrates just how little Wildstein likely knows about how the GBW draws the drivers crossing it.  I suspect that quite a few commuters from the wealthy suburbs to the north and south of Ft. Lee approach the bridge on the local roads to avoid the main highway and get on the GWB via that local entrance.  Those are the people who would tend to vote Republican and get ensnared in this political pay-back by Chrisie's crew.  That's also the reason that the "study" caused such bad traffic jams inside Ft. Lee proper, while one can see the I-95 traffic seemingly crossing without difficulty.  This was spite, pure and simple, an emotion most Republicans seem to understand totally.
