      not my primary area of law, but it seems to me that when the US Attorney has already indicated some intention to investigate, a state statute saying there is no 5th Amendment right in a legislative hearing may not stand up under scrutiny.

      And given the stakes, testifying under some sort of "use immunity" doesn't work -- once the testimony is out there, all hell breaks loose. (It's the same dilemma as journalists who are being pressured to reveal their sources.)

      So taking the contempt citation and keeping your mouth shut is probably the best route. let the lawyers sort it out later.
