Lets say he is a great guy who trusted his staff and got screwed.
He looks them right in the eye and says did you do it , and they say No I didn't.
    And then he believes them.

Do you really have to subpoena your staff? Shouldn't you be able to trust them?

don't you call up your guys on the PA -- your best buddy, the guy you put there -- and say "what's the deal guys? The media is ringing our phones off the hook on this one. What's going on?" And if they say "Oh, just routine traffic study," and you're a decisive bully like he's supposed to be, you say "_ that, you get those lanes open NOW and those study people had better come up with a different plan."

The fact that this went on for four days, the Mayor of Ft. Lee couldn't get anyone to answer his phone calls, etc. and no one has yet been able to produce any evidence of the supposed traffic study makes this highly unlikely.

more questions than that. He should have questioned the two that resigned and gotten to the bottom of what happened.  Where did they get their marching orders?  He claims to know nothing about traffic studies.  So you ask for the study and give the data to some engineer that DOES know what to look for.  This still stinks to high heaven.  I expect there will be further revelations that will not be helpful to the bully boy.  The story still does jive.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
