hate the poor, people of color, women who awant equal rights, foreigners, gays, and everyone else who isn't rich, white, male, straight, and conservative.

They also claim that government doesn't work, and when they get elected or appointed, they do everything in their power to prove it.

of the modern GOP and RW, you will find that these resentments against such others are what unite virtually all of them, along with the sense of entitlement along these dimensions that they believe is their birthright.

And because it bears repeating, these are the people they most hate, because these are the people they're not (or like to believe they're not):

      People of color
      The poor

It's really almost entirely about their hatred and fear of the "other" who've supposedly taken away their imagined deserved special place in society, by daring to ask for, expect and try to get what they've been getting all along, a fair shake. The barbarians crashed the gates and they hate them for it.

That's LITERALLY what it comes down to, whatever ideological nonsense has been built up around it to make it seem more sophisticated and legit by the likes of PR hacks like Buckley, Kristol, Murray and Brooks.
