  •  Christie is typical of every Republican I have (25+ / 0-)

ever met.  To a man, they think they are ENTITLED to rule however they see fit.  If that means breaking current laws, so be it.  They are ENTITLED to break those laws because they are the RULERS BY BIRTH.  They were born with money or acquired it using methods put in place by previous Republican rulers and they were born male and usually white.  That gives them the ENTITLEMENT to do whatever they please.  Period.  If that means breaking into Watergate to bug a Democratic convention, so be it.  If that means demanding a Florida recount be stopped so their ENTITLED candidate is put into the White House, so be it.  If that means launching two wars to make more of them rich, so be it.  If that means making sure legitimate Democratic votes are suppressed or somehow "lost" so their candidate is put into office, so be it.  If that means closing down the busiest bridge in the country to punish an opponent, so be it.

It's their PRIVILEDGE and their RIGHT as the ENTITLED RULERS of our society.

    That's why it's OKIYAR.  Period.

    •  actually not necessarily linked to party (5+ / 0-)

It's about power and the willingness to use it ruthlessly, whether you're Putin or Stalin, LBJ or Nixon. Many politicians of both (all) parties have some sort of strong-arming, vote-rigging, or pay-off incident somewhere in their rise to power. At the very least they have the positive trade-offs (I'll do this for you, hire your nephew as an aide, put that provision into the tax bill, whatever, in exchange for your support and/or money). -- We may not like it or approve, but that's why we're not in office and they are.

      •  So over the constant false equivalency. No, (7+ / 0-)

Democrats may cut deals, but they don't feel they are ENTITLED to rule the lower classes.  They usually ARE the lower classes or are afraid of the lower classes enough to want to at least not openly break laws.  When they get caught, they usually RESIGN in disgrace or are scandalized by Republucans into uselessness, like Clinton being impeached for lying about a blow job.  Republicans have to be caught with a dead hooker or a live boy to pay any price.  Usually, they get just get reelected.

Don't conflate the egregious antics of the GOP with Democrats unless you have absolute proof and LBJ strong-arming his opponents is no Watergate or Iran-Contra or SCOTUS election interference or invasion of Iraq or approval of torture or....  The list is ENDLESS.  Democrats just don't play the same ENTITLEMENT game.  Never did.  Never will.

the authoritarian traits. I'm sure Christie gets his jollies by manipulating the poor peons demonstrating his control over them. I think that's the reason he cut off funding for the new tunnel. If there were too many alternative routes his ability to mess with people would have been slightly less complete. I can just imagine him laughing and thinking how clever and powerful he is while dreaming up ways to show how he can hurt people if they don't do as he wants.
