Not sure what to say about the recordkeeping thing. I have really spotty records for the yard - almost all related to the Yardbird Race, but I've been diligent about the weekly counts for a long time. I think that once started the recordkeeping rolled into itself - not sure how to describe that "rolling in", but I have to keep going back, if nothing else but to check to see if the patterns are real. There's also something about being able to say that in X number of years I've seen Y number of birds in one place. For the Wetland it's 12 years and 114 different birds. Is that amazing or what?

The older notebooks are locked in my grandmother's china cupboard; the ones from 2008 and on are lined up on my desk, between two piles of field guides.
