  •  Neolibs are lazy (6+ / 0-)

And corrupt. For whatever reason, they love conceding vaste swathes of the electorate to Republicans.

If cutting Social Security & Medicare benefits for low income seniors is what Democrats do after they win a budget standoff, I'd hate to see what they do after they lose one.

Liberals 1-- years ago were motivated by anger and the injustices they experienced in their own lives.  Today, much of the liberal demographic is much more comfortable in their personal life, and the motivation is more one of guilt or empathy.  As you say...it leads to a certain degree of acceptance or resignation.

in their previous lives.  That's why I really don't like the term, it implies these cretins were, at some point in their lives, liberals. They had no conscience to abandon.

I've spent a lot of time around them since the dawn of the DLC and was surprised early on what conservative moneygrubbers they were.  If they had a "liberal moment" it was when they were smoking pot in college to try to get some hippie chick in the sack.

Perhaps I should go back to using my preferred term for them ConservaDems.

Neolibs, even Democrats, are just another face of the corporate party.  It is not conceding the electorate to repubs, it is just not caring when the economic goal is the same.

The reason that progressives like Warren are so rare is that we essentially have one party with two social agendas.  That the economy should serve the working people is no longer even considered by either party.  Or if it is, proponents of eliminating the bias towards wealth and against labor are ineffective and can be easily ignored.

And in coal country, it is a tradition not to vote, or to vote for those who confirm your victimhood, whether repub or Democratic.

      •  Exactly, its more of a "shadow" political party (1+ / 0-)

that is funded by corporate donors with members in the Democratic, Republican and Libertarian parties.

Perhaps we should call it the Citizen's United Party.  I really wish they would create their own party.  It would be much easier to defeat them.

      •  West Virginians.... (0+ / 0-)

support all the social programs like SS, Medicaid, Medicare, and especially, DD disability.  We have a higher % of the population using these programs than almost any state, and any neolib proposing to cut them (or Tea Partier for that matter) whould get short shrift.

        •  Then why vote for people . . . (0+ / 0-)

. . . who create the conditions that promote the profit of corporations over the welfare over the people?  Eliminating accountability and regulations protecting the public is a neolib line supported by most Democrats and all republicans.

Enjoy your poisonous drinking water, the result of the neolib agenda.

          •  they aren't that subtle.... (0+ / 0-)

they are looking short term.  Read the book about Kansans voting against their self interest.  In this state being anti coal is like being pro abortion in Kansas.
