    of anything, that would be a neat trick.

    Much more likely would be convincing conservative Catholics.

    Interesting thing about conservative Catholics: many of them are receptive to left-of-center economic arguments.

        umm... No more than it's out of the question that they could be swayed by the Dalai Lama, or the National Rabbinical Council, or the Dutch Olympic Soccer Team.

        Evangelicals do not regard the Pope as being any more authoritative than, say, the Australian Prime Minister.

        my kids are in their 20s and  30s and he's got their (provisionally approbative) attention.

        Mine too and I'm mid-50s.
