  •  In the Citizens United case, Justice Kennedy.... (32+ / 0-)

asserted that all that money could not possibly lead to corruption in politics.

And I reply, if it is "free speech," why are people paying so dam...ed much for it?"

    Dear Justice Kennedy:

No ordinary citizen could ever walk in off the street with a lawyer alongside and get a member of any Legislature to write a bill specifically designed to personally benefit him or her just for the asking.

However, in WI, it appears that someone who had recently made a $10,000 political donation to a state legislator was able to do exactly that.  He got that legislator to write a bill that would reduce his child support payments.

Do you think there might be any connection between the two?
Do you think the amount the citizen might save if the bill is passed is larger than the amount he donated?  Or should we just call it a wise investment?

I know I can expect to hear from you soon!

    Yours for basic justice,

*(No record of having ever made a $10,000 contribution to a state legislator....ever.)

PS - Say hello to Justice Roberts for me.  I know the two of you are looking out for my rights to voting and free speech.

Free markets would be a great idea, if markets were actually free.

    •  Maybe not term limits (0+ / 0-)

how about retention votes, or age limits or mandatory physicals.

A first class flight physical seems appropriate for the supremes given their influential  position.
