and they do not have the power to stop them. All they were doing here is employing the age-old strategy of divide and conquer. They were using rival gangs to provide information on one another. The Drug War is foolish, but this tactic is not.

        •  I agree completely. (0+ / 0-)

          None of this is okay.

           It is a true betrayal.

We've been played in this country, and we've been played a lot.

Is it complacency, is it fear of the government, or is it surrender?

Is it a feeling of powerlessness?

We get hit again and again and again.................and it just continues.......the hits keep right on coming.

          When is enough enough?

to continue to be a crime, that way there's some excuse for their lame, pointless agency.

      •  Yes they did create the gangs at least indirectly (7+ / 0-)

Nixon's failed war on drugs created the illicit markets with the associated violence, gangs and corruption of law enforcement. This tactic is just plain wrong...do you believe in torture too?

believe in climate change, either; needs "more proof".

TOTAL lack of understanding of causality; apparently thinks just happen by magic.

re: Putting millions of tons of particulate matter (smog) into the atmosphere likely leads to climate disturbances.

or, prohibition of booze and drugs directly leads to violent criminals offering those things (at an vastly inflated cost) which leads to organized gangs (the Mafia, street gangs) and Mexican drug cartels.

The Sinaloa cartel was repeatedly given a pass, empowering them, in order to weaken other cartels.  Favoritism among cartels is a long, long way from law enforcement in any sense.  You really should abstain from commenting in areas where you've done little research.

well organized and well funded criminal organizations that urban gangs are today was only possible because of drug money.
The War on Drugs maintains the high price of drugs, which makes the drug trade attractive. Higher prices for drugs means that addicts must commit more crimes in order to buy drugs.
The crime and violence associated with the drug trade us due to its illegal nature. If the DEA is giving a green light to some organizations and busting other, that makes the DEA a big player in urban crime and violence.

        so you would state:

"Prohibition did NOT create Al Capone and other successful gangsters'...???

WHAT a WEAK load of denial.

.wow... I'm stunned at your massive denial.. utterly weak.
