  •  Went to the Knox County Dems meeting last night (15+ / 0-)

We had a speaker on clean elections but next time we'll be talking flood plain maps, climate change, the environment , rising sea levels and why Maine is about to have beaches with palm trees looking much like your graphic somewhere around Appleton Ridge.

Owl's head will be an Island like Monhegan and so will most of the coast , but down around Cumberland and York the present coast line is just not gonna be there.

Joan Welsh was there talking about the legislature making an attempt to reinstate Maine Care, (Medicaid, Penquis Heap, LiHeap, EBT and all that) but maybe having to override Le Page.

They are also looking at flood maps. Joan's neighbors on Sea Street in Rockport (very rich Republicans somewhat in violation of the self reliance doctrine that gets applied to people wanting unemployment insurance extended) expect the State to pay for flood plain insurance for their mansio9ns and castles which will otherwise be unaffordable. She's not for it but will vote to fund the flood plain insurance maps continuing up the coast to Belfast.

We also are looking for a Democratic candidate for the new district so if you know a liberal or progressive Dem living in Warren, East Union, Hope or Appleton tell them we'd like them to run and they have till March 17, 2014 to get 25 signatures and file a petition.
