    In fact, I worked on a medical device facility in Indonesia.

    What I expect is that tariffs on their goods will be biased such that the only competitive advantage they have will be based upon manufacturing quality and not because of low wages and lack of environmental regulation.

    Up to and including last year I have directly assessed quality of medical devices being exported from China and India.  The distribution of data within specifications is oddly skewed and truncated and when measuring the normal process it is evident that nearly 50% of what is manufactured does not conform to specifications.  What these third-world manufacturers do is test 100% of manufactured units to discard those that are sub-specification.  So even then, nonconforming units are making it to patients depending on how good the metrology program is.

    Otherwise, screw third-world manufactured goods where the only competitive advantage is throwing masses of chattel working in a poisoned environment into processes.
