The right to shoot and kill someone who's got it coming to them is what this is about. It's not self-defense, it's abusing the concept of self defense to make summary execution of People Who Piss Me Off legitimate.

School shooters are only weird to staunch gun rights advocates because for some reason kids pissed them off and they're not quite at the point where shooting kids is cool by them, either.

Now, if recent shooters of national note had gone after some teen in a hoodie with a soft drink and some Skittles, or some man with popcorn in a movie theater, that'd be different.

Because of the doctrine of They Had It Coming. And that's what our so-called patriot set is championing. The original intent of the Second Amendment, never mind self defense, has nothing to do with it.

This isn't about fear, it's about wrath, and dressing it up in the raiment of sportsmanship, hobby enthusiasm and protecting one's own.

These are all sound reasons for having a gun - and that's why they're invoked as cover whenever a mad March hare goes all skittles on some kid that just don't look right, or gets his popcorn on when someone smarts back at them at the movies.

I'm not worried about the guy who has 100 or even a 1,000 guns in his home.

I'm worried about the guy who has just one...and carries it everywhere, and carries it angry.
