  •  The Indian government just wants this... (0+ / 0-)

...to go away so I don't anticipate any big whoop about this.  The only reason there was a big whoop about Khobragade is that she was well-connected, which is how you get an indefinite-term Indian diplomatic posting in New York in the first place.  The more newspaper-reading Indians found out about her, the less sympathy they had.

    •  wrong angle & wrong datapoint ... (0+ / 0-)

Indian diplomats & politicians are not backing off. Not sure where you got that message.

i have no sympathy for her. she is an indicted civil servant. that doesn't give US the rights to strip-search a diplomat. What the USMC did was wrong and US has to apologize because they knew her status and ignored before proceeding with strip search.

Who authorized strip search? Why? Not all arrests in US are strip searchs, so why do it for Devyani?

      •  I'm confident in my assessment. (0+ / 0-)

Salman Khurshid says it's just a blip, and he's the foreign minister.

As for the rest of it, that's a separate issue which I will leave to the specialists.
