    Happy Birthday to our Flotus!

    Another day, another outrage.
Did you hear about the dad who was jailed for paying too much child support?
I'll give you 2 guesses as to which side of the color lines he belongs.

All that talk about 2013 being the year of the black film turned out to be just talk, after all.
We could quite easily have had four nominees in the best actor category. Chiwetel, Idris, Forest Whitaker and Michael B Jordan. Chadwick Boseman deserves honorable mention for 42.
Cuba Gooding jr deserved to be nominated for best supporting actor.
O well, what do I know? We'll leave it up to the "experts" to determine who can really act and black folks may win another major category in the next 50 years.

I feel they nominate POC to bring the audience but their voters are very monolithic

It absolutely sounds like a travesty, at least assuming it is true he wasn't told about the changes to his payments and visitation schedule, and I strongly suspect you are correct as to the racial component, but from what I have read the sott.net story doesn't seem to be as accurate as this one. This UK news outlet's version seems to show he wasn't jailed for overpaying but instead for being (inadvertently) behind in payments at one point (because his payment amount was changed without his knowledge) even though he paid the balance in full after being notified of the fact.

Very very confused about that story, which I heard about from a Facebook friend last week.  Something in the facts is missing because it is absolutely not illegal to overpay your child support even over the objection of the other parent, so that could not have been the reason he was imprisoned or that's an automatic writ of mandate I presume some fine pro bono lawyer is already working on for him. The story I read made hints about different issues but didn't spell it out.
