I write for the enjoyment of the audience. I couldn't care less about fame or riches. And I like to mess with writing conventions; for instance, by changing from 1st person perspective to 3rd person omniscient perspective. If I can encourage other writers to feel freer not to be bogged down by a single stylistic convention, then that's a goal worth pursuing.

One of my main gripes with modern literature is that much of it reads the same. The prose is generic and it follows basic conventions to the letter. "Do not change perspectives. Make sure not to give away plots and plans before their fruition; only then have a "flashback" to "discuss" the plans. Don't kill popular characters. Have the bad guy monologue so as to reveal important plot points to the reader and give the main character time to escape or defeat the bad guy. Yada yada yada."
