It's starting to dawn on me that retiring is requiring a bigger adjustment than I expected. A part of that is the weather, there is so much snow and ice it isn't really possible to get out of the house and walk in town, so I'm struggling to find things to keep me busy. That will sort itself out in time, I'm sure.

Yesterday, however, there was cause for happy dancing as the birds finally found the feeder I put out for them a week ago. :-)

the birds around our chalupa managed to finish off the two suet balls we hung up for them. We hung up a couple of them on our balcony in Prague too but they've been ignored. I guess the little birds have little reason to be scrounging around up this many floors-- yet.

What sort of birds do you get at your feeder?

I'm still overly entertained by being able to say I've got lots of tits over here.

      Coal tits, blue tits...

It is a disturbingly mild winter. We had our killing frosts in the autumn right on schedule but almost all of January so far has had daily high temps around 50˚F.

Vague promises from the meteorologists of snow on Wednesday. That's similar to what they said last week.

Y'know, with my chosen profession of arteest I don't think I'll really ever retire.

Black Capped Chickadees, Chipping Sparrows and a female Cardinal. There is one sparrow that seems to have declared himself King of the feeder. He sits on the ledge, puffs himself up and dares the others to approach his stash. At least I think it's a male.

We've had more snow than normal, and a lot of cold temps. The other night I went out for a walk, slipped on a patch of ice and fell. Ooooof! Thank goodness for lots of padding and strong bones! lol All in all, I think I'll hold off on the walks until we get a good thaw. :-)
