  •  The Ohio legislature did some senator-swapping to (11+ / 0-)

get SB-5 through committee and onto the floor for a vote a couple years back. Seitz was pulled off one committee, Oelslager another. It ultimately passed by 1 vote (and then, as we all know, was defeated when actual voters got their say).

If these clowns will do it to their own members, is it any surprise they do it to us?

    •  Indiana has changed so much in the past few years (8+ / 0-)

when it comes to marriage equality. I am optimistic that the voters - even generally conservative voters - won't pass this if Bosma manages to get this abomination on the ballot. Too many family members have come out and tied the knot or plan to.

It is likely that it will not stand up in a state supreme court challenge and or a federal court and that may facilitate a speedier legalization so... Please proceed conservatives... please proceed.

Marriage Ban Constitutional Amendment onslaught otherwise known as "Bush/Cheney 2004 GOTV".

I'd hesitate to say that our Republican Party is getting any more moderate — I just don't think their teabagging masters see denying marriage equality as essential to their Freedumbs as abortion nowhere, guns everywhere, and One True God hell-bent on depriving the poors of affordable healthcare.

        And Benghazi also, too.

open warfare between the Religious Right church wing and the Tea Party wing in Oklahoma, for replacing Sen. Coburn when he steps down. The church bigots are not going to give up on gaybashing, while the Libertarians are largely against the bashing, and the national Republicans and the Wall Street/Chamber of Commerce/1% wing want the issue to go away.

Here in Indiana, we have a number of Republicans on our side, including three on the Assembly committee. So the vote would have gone against getting HJR 3 out of committee. The committee chair took the highly unusual step of not holding that vote at the end of the hearing that was just held, and Bosma is taking the nearly unprecedented step of rejiggering the committee to replace one or more of the saner Republicans. Freedom Indiana plans to demand a new hearing with the new members in place if that happens.

Hoosiers may want to watch the coverage on Indiana Week in Review on Friday.
