  •  The Museum I work at has a little cottage (3+ / 0-)

    built in 1856. In the exterior walls are "dobe" bricks made by the soldiers (it's part of a military fort) placed there for insulation.

    Some bricks were crumbling, and some were broken when one of the walls sagged. An enterprising volunteer dissolved the fragments in water and re-molded them into authentic "new" bricks to replace in the repaired wall.
