    She is a non-partisan mayor (Mayor is a non-partisan position in Hoboken) who is registered as a Democrat. I understand that you don't like Democrats ever speaking well of Republicans.  But in this case, where her position by definition is non-partisan, it isn't shocking that she might try to burnish her own bi-partisan credentials. She is a mayor who happens to be a Democrat, not a Democratic mayor.

    Others have pointed out reasons that first came to my mind - Anita Hill speaking favorably of Clarence Thomas and even continuing to work for him after he sexually harassed her, battered women defending their abusers. I think ultimately, she was just trying to make the best of a difficult situation, and salvage as much as she could for her constituents.

    The past 50 years we: -Ended Jim Crow. -Enacted the Voting Rights Act. -Attained reproductive rights (contraceptive & abortion). -Moved toward pay equity. Republicans want to take our country back. I WON'T GO BACK!
