    This man grew up poor, so he had, buried in his core, the values of people who never know wealth and have to struggle by with what they can get.  He understood the concept of the "greater good", and could think of the world as a whole, rich and poor.

    Not everyone in finance came from nothing.  In fact, I'd be surprised if any more than a minority did.  The rest are rich asshole children of rich asshole parents.  Rich people are the whole world to them -- they're all they've ever known.  You're not going to convince them that the world, and even their own well-being, might be better off if they allow themselves to be satisfied with less.  The pursuit of "more" is the only goal they understand.
