  •  MLK on women's and gay issues... (3+ / 0-)

...While MLK was a great man and a huge progressive in so very many ways, it sounds like his attitudes towards women's issues were reflective of the era that he lived in.  That's probably equally true of how he felt on gay issues...assuming he ever even thought about it.

What would have happened to his attitudes on both sets of issues had he lived?  I'd like to think that his attitudes would have evolved with the times, and he would indeed have eventually taken stands for both women and gay people.  We can't know that for sure...but it certainly seems more reasonable than assuming his views would have forever stayed stuck in 1968, as Bernice and Alveda King seem to want to believe.
