    And you can't sue us for violating your constitutional rights because you can't prove that we did anything because it's all too secret to talk about.

    Around here, such talk would be labeled CT.  Perhaps I'll start saying, "I know 9/11 was an inside job, but my proof is too secret to reveal, and it would hurt people if I revealed it."

    In the end, it just says, "Trust us."  On that front, the track record is not reassuring.  Authoritarianism, pure and simple.  Or, as the estimable Marjorie Cohn puts it

    If the court allows the NSA to continue its metadata collection, we will reside in what can only be characterized as a police state.
