A couple questions for those who understand how guns work .... I am wondering whether "I didn't know the gun was loaded" really is as idiotic as it sounds.  I thought Gun Safety 101 included always assuming a gun is loaded.  Is the shooter saying that s/he did not know a gun was loaded an admission of incompetence or negligence?  Or is it actually possible that a bullet can lurk somewhere in a gun in a way that checking wouldn't find it?
