I assume because it had minimal (or no?) residency requirements before filing, and probably the equivalent of no-fault when everywhere else required proof of adultery. I believe my grandparents may have gotten divorced there around 1933.

And isn't prostitution legal there as well?

It's definitely a hoot to watch them try to argue that somehow it's the LGBTQ folks who are damaging "traditional marriage" in their state.

in Clark County (Las Vegas), and I am not sure about the county containing Reno.  The famous (or infamous) legal brothel called the Chicken Ranch is in a rural area of the state.  But even where it is illegal, the law tolerates it as long as it stays discreet and doesn't generate other crimes (but this has started to change now that police realize that very few prostitutes are REALLY volunteers; most are the victims of abuse by pimps, who keep them addicted and beat them, and often recruit them by such means in the first place).  If it were legal and regulated (by a Pubic Service Commission?  couldn't resist the pun), the rights of the prostitutes themselves would be protected by law, which would not be good for the pimps.

Also, the ladies could write off their medical exams as "maintenance of income-producing rental property."

By the way, guess who financed the initial investments of the mob in casino gambling?  Mormon-owned banks!
