Columbine High School, is in Littleton, south and west of Denver.  The Arapahoe High School shooting, also in Littleton, which I'm sure the right-to-shoot folks will point out, had one death and one injury, plus the shooter's death, so it doesn't, I believe, count as a mass shooting because four weren't killed (I think the current speculation is the shooter was so upset about shooting his first victims he turned the gun on himself but of course we'll never know why he didn't continue on and pass that technical threshold of a true mass killing).  There was also recently a chemical explosion that injured six at a high school in Highlands Ranch, another southern suburb of Denver.

Going farther south, even beyond Castle Rock, the head of the state Bureau of Prisons was killed last year by a guy who was mistakenly let out of prison early.  The guy used a gun bought for him by a (duped? accomplice? threatened?) woman to kill a pizza delivery driver, then used that uniform to go to the BOP's house and ring the doorbell and kill the chief and his wife, then flee to Texas where he was killed in a shootout with police after a traffic stop.

There have been more multiple murders by gun-wielders but not "mass shootings" in the areas between Denver and Castle Rock.  How many more would you like me to name?
