  •  The problem is Crist, not any new love for Scott (6+ / 0-)

Charlie Crist is not a beloved figure in FL. Most view him as a rank opportunist, whether that's fair or not. It's also true that few like a turn coat, even when one has good reasons for turning on one's own party. Rather, people would prefer for that person to leave politics. To all the sudden claim one is diametrically opposed to one's old home and is now completely in sync with the former rival party just is not credible.

Unfortunately, the Dem bench in FL of potential candidates with name recognition is low. I suspect we'd need some wealthy, well-known person from outside politics to declare candidacy. Who that might be, I haven't a clue, but he or she'd need to be a gifted speaker and hardcore populist.

I'd love to see Angela Basset run for elected office. A St. Pete native, she's a Yale grad, trained debater and exudes that physical gravitas. She'd also be an excellent fundraiser.

I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires. - Susan B. Anthony

      along all you Fl residents

IMLO the national dem election machine would be wise to put money into a candidate like pajoley describes ..While she may not win , it brings real dems together and reinforces the base for future wins and actions , not many dems want to support fake dems either , but you can flip moderates once people get sick of the GOP snake oil , and you need a solid base to do that

And since the national dem machine and Obama could not back a real dem for governor in New Jersey , I will just assume they will not be backing a fake dem in Fl. for governor , they will all look like clowns if they support Crist

And on the Hispanic voter front , one reason Obama's favorability poll numbers tanked in 2012 is that Hispanics decided they did not like Obama's leadership , these people will not show up to support your party if all you do is give them lip service , imlo
