  •  i agree... (6+ / 0-)

it was a poorly constructed article and i had difficulty abstracting it.   it does give you the gist of the conflict, though, and one gets the distinct feeling that two things are going on.   one, erdogan is probably deeply corrupt and pulling out all of the stops to sweep his corruption under the rug.  the other distinct impression is that there are outsiders stirring the pot.  a fair guess as to the identity of the outsiders would  probably be americans and possibly (considering the struggles between erdogan and israel a while ago over the palestinian relief ships) israel as well.

my guess is that we'll see a military coup before too long.

it could be a huge collapse

possibly only the military could survive a huge collapse

would be the group to step in.   if i remember correctly the turkish military has a sort of social role as the protectors of the secular nature of government/society.  they also have deep ties to american and israeli military and intelligence communities.  i would guess that they would have support internally (by tradition) and externally (to the pot-stirrers) to pull off a military coup if things start getting ugly with erdogan.

          it makes sense

and points out how close we are to something like that happening here as well

USA been overthrowing governments for a hundred years

why should they stop now that they have the military power
