an incubator is so evil, i haven't got words for it.  i am so bloody sick of MEN telling WOMEN that they have no value beyond making babies.  they want to keep the information about sex out of schools, provide free boner pills to men, deny any birth control, deny medical care and then force women to give birth to a baby the men then want nothing to do with.  but this loved woman, whose anguished family pled with authorities to release to death, is wired up to machines to continue to grow a baby who was severely deformed.  even the non viability of that fetus was denied by the hospital.  the inhumanity of the situation was overwhelming.  i am so glad it has come to an end and the family can now grieve the loss of the mother, wife, daughter and the loss of the child that might have been.  it is a tragedy all the way around, made better only by the fact that this gross misuse of power by the state has come to light.  can something be done about that law?  we'll see.

    •  And I wonder if anyone knows if the fetus (1+ / 0-)

suffered during all this time.  I hope not.

i totally agree i hope there was no suffering for the fetus but i believe it was not functioning at that level.  how do we act humanely towards all involved?  i am not able to answer those questions.  the sadness of it all is overwhelming.

      •  I doubt it. (6+ / 0-)

The brain was very underdeveloped.  The suffering was entirely the family's.

Oh, and the untold harm done because scarce resources were wasted on her that could have been spent on others in real need.

Don't know how to word this is exactly, but just got to thinking that the more time they kept on her machines if the fetus suffered during that time.
