Is exactly right. A detailed written FAQ just leads to rules lawyering. I'm sorry you've been finding things confusing lately, but if you have a question about anything, please feel free to PM me.

There are really only two major things to be aware of:

    1) Be civil and kind to your fellow users; and

    2) Don't discuss policy.

Those are woven deeply into the DKE genome at this point, and people have also gotten good about imparting these mores to newcomers. "No Dem primary chatter" has also been a long-standing policy—I just wasn't sure when I'd have to reinstitute it. Annoyingly, the answer turned out to be "two years before a single vote is cast," but so be it. (Remember, SSP was founded in 2003 specifically to get away from primary talk!)

Oh, and don't hide-rate stuff. This sub-community operates differently than many others at Daily Kos, and if you HR comments, folks with different approaches to community moderation will see those (on the hidden comments page), and then we inevitably have culture clashes. I'd rather we just deal with potentially troublesome comments either with our words (i.e., explain politely and calmly why a comment is problematic), or by ignoring them altogether.
