  •  They only object because it's a tangible (30+ / 0-)

    benefit that filters down directly to the people.

    That is the common thread of all that they object to - unemployment benefits, food stamps, Obamacare, Pell grants, you name it. If a benefit flows directly to the people without a 1% tollbooth skimming operation it is BAD.

    Plus, that is money that could go into more corporate welfare for their sponsors who in turn can donate it to their campaign coffers. The system works beautifully except when the hoi polloi actually GET some of the famous trickle down which has to be stopped by any means.

      It keeps them from losing money, doesn't it?  But since when does the GOP leadership care?  They probably see insurance cos as traitors for supporting Obamacare by trying to make it work.

        because it's easily demagogued and difficult to explain to base voters.  They care more about that than whether insurance companies are negatively affected.  Only insurance companies can change their minds, but it will be an uphill battle akin to hospitals attempting to change the minds of state legislators opposed to expanding Medicaid.
