  •  I get nervous when Dems want to ban foods (0+ / 0-)

I'm good w/taking away tax breaks and subsidies, but the NYC 16oz soda ban, for instance-

people are free to make choices

    •  It got called a ban. It wasn't a ban. (2+ / 0-)

It reset the default size of a soda. You could buy as many sodas as you wanted.

I didn't think it was smart politics, but it wasn't any where as freedom crushing as people made it out to seem.

Please stop calling it a soda ban.

    •  It's not really a ban (1+ / 0-)

It just says that schools can no longer serve food with this ingredient.

You can still get lard and such at local stores. You can make it if you know how to render down animal fat.

Controlling the nutrition of a captive audience like school children is important to their health and development. If as an adult you want to help your child achieve success on a diet of coco puffs and twinkies--I guess that's on you.

But other children should not be subjected to such low quality food with ingredients that are known to cause long term health problems in childhood and when they become adults.

Feed them right, now, and they won't need statins in college.

Gentlemen, congratulations. You're everything we've come to expect from years of government training (Zed, MIB).
