  •  The rights are not comparable. (12+ / 0-)

Voting rights are a civil right, consistent with the framework of the Constitution, but not provided for universally.
Minors, for example, continue to be excluded and the status of people with a criminal record is up to the several states.

Reproduction is a human right, as is the right to bodily integrity. When an individual's body has been invaded, that is an assault. Not to mention that much reproductive effort is actually lethal, absent outside assistance.
While it is quite common in nature for the present generation to expire before the next comes into existence, leaving frog eggs, for example, at the mercy of every hungry fish in the pond, or the even more merciless sun which dries ponds out before the tadpoles have grown legs and hopped off on their own, mammals contain the young for a long period of time, consistent with the fact that their gestation takes a long time and they are unable to sustain themselves even after they are born. That is, man's natural requirements are such that the survival of the species depends on a nurturing environment. Assault is not consistent. For the social environment to side with the assaultive element is anti-social and insulting -- as in adding insult to injury.

We have a long history of assaults on females being carried out with impunity and even legal support (vide the treatment of slaves). Nevertheless, it is socially destructive and we should be beyond that.
